Dear partners and supporter,

With Menstrual Hygiene Day 2021 less than 2 months away, preparations at the International Secretariat are running at full steam. As many of you are now starting to plan your activities for and around 28 May, we want to give you an update to support your planning.
Theme for MH Day 2021
We need to step up action and investment in menstrual health and hygiene now!

Much of the world is still in Covid-19 crisis mode and it is unclear when the pandemic will be under control.

The pandemic has exacerbated the menstruation-related challenges women and girls face around the world and we need to tackle these challenges with urgency.

At the same time, we also have to look ahead so we don’t lose sight of our joint long-term goal: a world where no woman or girl is held back because she menstruates by 2030.

To achieve that goal, we need to step up action and investment in Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH), starting with this MH Day! Waiting for the Covid-19 pandemic to end is not an option.

We have the technical solutions and we have organisations ready to take action at scale. Now we need to mobilise the financial resources to make it happen.

Adapt the call to action to your priorities
You can adapt the call for more action and investment in MHH now to....
  • scale education,
  • improve access to menstrual products,
  • tackle period stigma,
  • mitigate the effects of the pandemic,
  • ensure the inclusion of MHH in post-pandemic recovery plans,
or whatever other issue is most relevant in your context.

Make use of the Menstruation Bracelet

Last year, we introduced the Menstruation Bracelet as a symbol for menstruation and thousands of people all over the world – from young girl scouts to grandfathers, from senior government officials to social media influencers - used it to show that periods are nothing to hide and to help end period stigma, one bracelet picture at a time.

The Menstruation Bracelet is an extremely powerful tool and we encourage you to integrate it into your MH Day activities as much as possible – on social media, when you engage with decision makers, when you organise an event – always!

An updated guide on how to make and use the bracelet will be available shortly.

A comprehensive set of materials
Like every year, we will provide you with a comprehensive set of high-quality MH Day campaign materials. This will include ready-to-use materials for social media (co-created with amazing young artists), a design guide to create your own MH Day content, a campaign video and an infographic. All these materials will come in various languages and have space for adding your logo.

Event registration
We are always excited to hear about your MH Day plans. Do you plan to have an in-person event or are you planning something online, or both?  Do you plan to start already in early May in the lead up to MH Day? Let us and the rest of the MH Day partnership know! The updated event entry form on the website will be ready soon.
Please keep checking the MH Day website and social media channels for new updates. More information will be shared in the next newsletter coming soon.
And as always, feel free to contact us with your questions, ideas and feedback!

We are looking forward  MH Day 2021!
