Hello Hope!

This past Sunday in the sermon I used a song by STING entitled “Russians” from the Album Dream of the Blue Turtles released in 1985. Some of the feedback I received was that the words were difficult to hear on the sound system in the sanctuary. Therefore, I thought it might be a good idea to send the lyrics out. I have also included a link to the live performance that I played in church as well.

I have placed the lyrics at the bottom of this email and the link to the song is here: CLICK HERE

BOOK GROUP

In addition, the summer Book Group is about to start up. In case you haven’t seen the information yet, here it is. The book we will be reading is by Echart Tolle and it is called A New Earth

Oprah Winfrey says this book is "A wake-up call for the entire planet . . . [A New Earth] helps us to stop creating our own suffering and obsessing over the past and what the future might be, and to put ourselves in the now." Join us to discuss this book as a catalyst for greater understanding of faith in community.

The Lyrics as Promised

“Russians” from Dream of the Blue Turtles by STING

In Europe and America there's a growing feeling of hysteria.

Conditioned to respond to all the threats

In the rhetorical speeches of the Soviets.

MIster Krushchev said, "We will bury you."

I don't subscribe to this point of view.

It'd be such an ignorant thing to do

If the Russians love their children too.

How can I save my little boy from Oppenheimer's deadly toy?

There is no monopoly on common sense

On either side of the political fence.

We share the same biology, regardless of ideology.

Believe me when I say to you,

I hope the Russians love their children too

There is no historical precedent

To put the words in the mouth of the president?

There's no such thing as a winnable war,

It's a lie we don't believe anymore.

Mister Reagan says, "We will protect you."

I don't subscribe to this point of view.

Believe me when I say to you,

I hope the Russians love their children too

We share the same biology, regardless of ideology.

But what might save us, me and you,

Is if the Russians love their children too
