Happy Holidays

From your friends at the

Albany Pine Bush Preserve!
A National Natural Landmark

We hope to see you during this holiday season enjoying the Preserve, attending one of our outstanding programs at the Discovery Center, or picking up a few unique items from our gift shop. The end of the year is also a great time to become a member of Friends of the Pine Bush Community or to sponsor the “Ticket to Ride” program.

Below are a few highlights  from our upcoming program schedule – please keep us in mind during the holiday break!  Click here for a complete list of programs, Discovery Center hours and directions.
We will be offering programs at the Discovery Center during the upcoming school break December 27- January 2. The theme for the week is Wildlife in Winter.

Each program includes a unique opportunity to learn about the globally rare, nationally significant, and locally distinct Albany Pine Bush while looking more closely at animals that live here. Program highlights include a Critter Scene Investigation on Tuesday December 29th and a free New Year Bird Count for kids on Saturday January 2nd.

We are looking for neighbors that live within half a mile of the Preserve that can help track changing weather patterns by measuring the depth of snow in their own backyard.

On Sunday, January 10 from 2:00-3:00pm come to the Discovery Center to learn how to collect and submit measurements that will help Commission scientists explain how flora and fauna of the Pine Bush survive the winter.
