Festival Season

June is Festival Season in Northern Arizona and we're in the thick of it. Stop by to see us this weekend at Blues and Brews. Next weekend we'll be at Pride and Juneteenth. At Hullabaloo last weekend, we garnered double-digit voter registrations and had hundreds of voter interactions. The most productive event we're doing each week is the Flagstaff Community Market. Meanwhile, our year-round presence at the Tuba City Flea Market continues.

Action and Business Meeting This Saturday

Our monthly Action Meeting this Saturday will include the quarterly business meeting required by our by-laws, PLUS the election of a 2d Vice-Chair.  We'll start the meeting at 10 am by hearing from our LD-6 and LD-7 candidates for legislature.

Important information you won't want to miss: Voter Protection Talking Points (Laura Huenneke) and What's the Legislature Up To? (Darrell Boomgaarden).

Our business meeting will be relatively short: A report from our Treasurer, Chair, and First Vice-Chair and time for your questions.

Then we'll ask you to sign up for our current actions:  Tabling and door hanger distribution. (You're going to love our very LARGE doorhangers.)

If you have petitions in need of notarization, Monique will be available to notarize them at the end of the meeting.

For those of you who prefer to attend on Zoom, we've been working on improving our hybrid meeting skills and hope to deliver a somewhat better experience for you this month.

January 6 Hearings

The House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the US Capitol will hold the first in its series of eight planned public hearings on Thursday, June 9th, at 8:00 pm ET (5:00 pm Arizona Time, 6:00 pm Navajo Nation Time).

Watch these hearings live on https://january6.house.gov/news/watch-live  or on your favorite network or cable news channel (assuming it's not Fox).

Next week, the series continues on weekday mornings. Check the schedule on our calendar.

A Few Weeks to Go on Voter Initiatives

Our PCs and volunteers have been collecting signatures for citizen initiatives related to Voting Rights, Campaign Finance, Healthcare, and Abortion Rights. The deadline to get enough signatures to get all of these important issues on the ballot is the first of next month. Coconino has done and continues to do more than its fair share. Last Sunday alone, we collected signatures from voters registered in more than 5 counties (it's summer in Flagstaff -- everyone wants to be here).

To accommodate circulators during the last weeks of these campaigns, we're adding some notary hours outside of our normal office hours. This Wednesday (today), a volunteer notary will be in the office from 4 pm to 6 pm. Watch our calendar for more updates.

Volunteer for Voter Protection in This Year's Elections

Want to be a poll observer, voter hotline volunteer, or tabulation observer?  The first step is to fill out this general information form.  We anticipate the first training for poll observers (you only need to attend one) will be June 23.
