Human Rights Day

December 10 -  International Human Rights Day. GABRIELA joined the national protest to call for justice on the multiple human rights violations, perpetrated by the Filipino government. With different multi-sectoral organizations, GABRIELA marched from Quiapo Church to Mendiola. On arrival the demonstrators where invited to witness a varied program; testimonies, speeches and cultural acts gave voice and image to the demands of the protest.

As a women's organization, GABRIELA, denounces the human rights violations against women, especially. By highlighting recent rape cases involving members of the AFP, it becomes clear that the government's Oplan Bayanihan counter-insurgency program is mainly responsible for such severe violations of women's human rights.
