CoreTrustSeal Certification Cohort of Data Repositories

If you missed the first webinar on CoreTrustSeal and the certification process last Tuesday, the video is here.

A cohort of data repositories is being assembled to apply for CoreTrustSeal certification as part of the American Geophysical Union Coalition Enabling FAIR Data ProjectCoreTrustSeal certification demonstrates to a repository’s users and funders that they have been evaluated by an independent authority and endorsed for their trustworthiness.

The plan is to have at least two webinars. The one last week was with Rorie Edmunds (Program Director for World Data System International Program Office) and John Faundeen (USGS). A second one, with people who have been through the process, will be scheduled soon. Be sure you're signed up for the EarthCube Monday Update for details. The webinars will be recorded and made available for those unable to attend.

If you are interested in becoming a member of this cohort, please send an email to Rebecca Koskela (rkoskela@unm.edu).

Please pass this on to anyone you think would be interested in joining the cohort.

Ignite @ AGU

ESIP will be coordinating the Ignite talks again this year at AGU and are accepting submissions for talks until midnight ET on November 18, 2018.

Slack Channels

For EarthCube Governance Groups
and Projects

We now have a Slack workspace specifically for EarthCube Governance Groups (earthcubeprojects.slack.com). It's free to become a member of the workspace, spin-up time is minimal, so jump in!

If you'd like an invite, please contact Julie Petro.

Unfamiliar with Slack? Simply put, it's an intuitive tool used by distributed teams to collaborate more effectively and most importantly, to get stuff done. The ESSO has been using it on a number of internal projects, and the Leadership Council has recently adopted it to stay on top of its numerous tasks and deadlines. Learn more here
