AN HISTORIC PRIVATE ESTATE BOASTING ONE OF THE LOVELIEST GARDENS IN ENGLAND

Welcome to your Easter newsletter!

Haven't we had some gorgeous weather recently? Sadly we've not been blessed with wall to wall sunshine today, but we've got our fingers crossed for a fantastic Easter weekend!

The Magnolia on the South Lawn is in full bloom and looking stunning - adding real colour to the garden.

We hope you all have a wonderful Easter break and enjoy some time off - why not plan a trip to Trewithen? With all of our grounds and gardens to explore, as well as the cafe and plant centre it's a great family day out, just outside of Truro. You can find all of our visitor information on the website, here.

In the meantime, catch up with all that's been going on at Trewithen in this month's newsletter. Enjoy!

An exhibition to mark our 300th anniversary

There is an extra attraction at Trewithen this year - an exhibition to illustrate and celebrate the estate’s three centuries.

Trewithen has remained in the same family since 1715, passing through the male bloodline, changing name through marriage only twice. The exhibition features moments from the family’s history - triumphs, tragedies and even a moment of indiscretion. It outlines the history and development of the garden from its beginnings as a wooded park, through the influence of the plant hunting era, to its sculpted, expertly designed 21st century beauty.

"Windows in time... The first 300 years"

Preparation for the Cornwall Garden Society's Spring Flower Show 2015 are going strong. This year, being Trewithen's 300th anniversary year, we are building a "Show Garden" at the show.

The title for the garden is "Window's in Time...The first 300 years".

March's plant of the month is...

Magnolia sargentiana robusta 'Blood Moon'

This is my favourite magnolia. It's located just outside the summer house and is nothing short of stunning when in flower. Its huge dark pink, with a purple hue, flowers completely smother the tree. This is a "stop you in your tracks" plant.
