The policy is as follow:
  • When the County Schools are closed or there is a two-hour delay, all GGCC morning events and committee meetings are cancelled.
  • Any afternoon events or committee meetings will be decided upon by 8:00 am.
  • All evening events or committee meetings, will be decided upon by Noon.
  • Please note there are times that an event may be held or cancelled due to the sponsoring company’s policies and/or the discretion of the GGCC.

  • The City of Gaithersburg is joining with Montgomery Serves and Seneca Creek Community Church to host a Day of Service Encouraged for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. It will be a morning of more than 15 service projects, suitable for a variety of ages and skill levels, that will benefit the most vulnerable in our community at the church, located at 13 Firstfield Road in Gaithersburg, from 9-11:00 am on Monday, January 18.   • Combining site-specific installation with works on paper, artist Mariah Anne Johnson responds to the light and architecture in The Kay Gallery at BlackRock Center for the Arts using a new collection of found fabrics suspended alongside her signature sheets and pillowcases in the exhibition “Keep Everything.” The exhibition is on view now through Saturday, January 30 at BlackRock, 12901 Town Commons Drive, Germantown.   • Join Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland on January 23rd for a Wine & Cheese Tasting at Dawson's Market, 225 N.   • Make your Day of Service creative and bright on January 18. Part of Metropolitan Ballet Theatre and Academy's mission is to make art accessible in the community. So their students have prepared a wonderful collection of original pieces for you on MLK Day. Tickets are free, but must be reserved, click here.
  • Montgomery Community Media has been selected to host an Explorer Post. The Explorers program is Learning for Life's career-education program for young men and women ages 14 to 20 who may be interested in the field of media and communications. Students will have an opportunity to participate in hands-on projects to give them a real feel for whether this career is the right one for them and they can earn SSL hours, too. Participation is easy: Register and pay the $32 participation fee; complete the Youth Participation Form and attend orientation on Tuesday January 12.

Each panelist will share their story, how they chose their partners, what motivated them to take the entrepreneurial leap, and they will answer the question- what makes their partnerships strong?
