  • On Thursday, September 22nd, Buch Construction set the 2.5 MW (2,500 kW) natural gas fired generator for the new Combined Heat & Power (CHP) plant at Medimmune off of Great Seneca Highway. The 120,000 lb generator and enclosure required heavy load permits and police escorts for the 135’ long trailer to travel from Baltimore to Gaithersburg.  It also required Digging & Rigging’s 600-ton crane to lift and set it into place.  Receiving the generator was a key milestone in the aggressive schedule of having it operational by the end of the year. Jeff Williford is the lead PM for Buch Construction on this $6M project.
  •  Adventist HealthCare will host their free Diabetes Expo on November 11. Get free health screenings, nutrition information and cooking tips to keep diabetes at bay and keep your heart healthy. Details, click here.
  • Nominations for the Corporate Volunteer Council of Montgomery County's Community Service Awards are being accepted until September 30. Awards are open to businesses of all sizes and recognize employee volunteer and community involvement programs at various stages of their evolution. For more information, click here.
  • Gaithersburg Elementary School is searching for tee shirts! Any businesses that might be interested in donating some t-shirts to the school for "Career T-Shirt Mondays". They are looking for 150 t-shirts from a variety of businesses in different sizes so that each staff member could have one. They'd be glad to have shirts from businesses ranging from plumbing, electricians, landscaping, apartments, cleaning, construction, etc. To donate, contact Jennifer Nicholson at 301-840-7136.
  • Apple cider, apple cider donuts, apple rolls, & apple cider slushies have arrived in the Butler's Orchard market. And you can also pick your own apples, raspberries or pumpkins too!.   • Join Small Business University, a program of Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union, on the third Thursday of each month between 7:00 am-8:30 am. Start your morning with great networking followed by an inspiring speaker each month. This month's speaker (October 20) is Benjamin H.   • County Councilmember Craig Rice to hold Montgomery Village Community Meeting Wednesday, September 28 at 6:30 pm at Watkins Mill High School Cafeteria,10301 Apple Ridge Road, Gaithersburg. Come to discuss Montgomery Villages issues and opportunities such as the redevelopment of the town center and other development projects, get road updates, schools, etc.
  • The Montgomery Village Foundation Great Pumpkin Race - a unique side-by-side, single elimination race featuring handcrafted, decorated pumpkin race cars - will be held on Saturday, October 15 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the North Creek Community Center, 20125 Arrowhead Road in Montgomery Village.   • The City of Gaithersburg presents the 25th annual celebration of Oktoberfest at the Kentlands, Sunday, October 9, from 12-5:00 pm. The festival covers Kentlands Village Green, the grounds of Kentlands Mansion, Main Street and Market Square. The fall festival features a beer and wine Tasting, German food and music and five stages of entertainment. Mandatory Sick Leave Begins October 1


An employee must accrue paid leave before accruing unpaid leave in a calendar year. Earned paid sick and safe leave must accrue at a rate of at least 1 hour for every 30 hours an employee works in the County.

Non-Profit Group Panel Discussion on Partnerships

 Join the Chamber's Non-Profit Group for a panel discussion on nonprofit/corporate partnerships.

Gain insight to create meaningful partnerships that are "win-win-win," equally benefiting the nonprofit's mission, the business's objectives, and the community at large. Sarah Burnett, Executive Director of Corporate Volunteer Council, will provide a brief keynote and will moderate the panel.

Our panelists, owners/leaders of local businesses and nonprofits, will highlight some of their most successful and interesting partnerships, followed by a Q&A session. Panelists will include Rebuilding Together Montgomery County, Fleet Feet Sports Gaithersburg and others.

The  Chamber's Celebration Dinner & Awards Ceremony is slated for Thursday, December 8. We are asking for you to show your support for the Chamber by making a donation to our silent auction. Silent Auction donations are a wonderful way to showcase your products/services, gaining great exposure to nearly 250 attendees at the event! In return for your donation, you/your company will receive:
  • Exposure/positioning of your product or promotional materials at the auction display
  • Special recognition as a Silent Auction donor in our Celebration Program

As part of an ongoing effort to provide value to our members, the Chamber has partnered with energy experts CQI Associates to offer you the services of the Commercial Energy Co-op. We are happy to announce the Fall 2016 enrollment campaign is underway. 

Joining the Chamber's Energy Co-op Program provides:
