New project: The Life I Want

Welcome to those who signed up since my last newsletter -- one year ago?! I had just moved to Bali for a family adventure: Our kids would enroll at the Green School; my husband would focus on his photography; I would be brutally discerning about how I spent my time and energy, and listen carefully to what work was truly mine to do.

In the fall I reconnected with Eva Dienel, a friend from BSR who was (relatively speaking) right next door in Australia, having moved there three years ago so her Aussie husband could fulfill his longstanding dream of running his own vineyard. (If you find yourself near the Grampians National Park, go visit!)

Turns out she and I were exploring many of the same questions about work and life. So we decided to launch a storytelling project together -- about reimagining work so that it enables the lives we want, rather than sticking us with the lives we're stuck with.

Join us at -- and share with us your dreams and frustrations about making work work; and ideas for people and organizations we should profile and topics we should explore.

Sign up to our newsletter there (we just sent out our first one), or simply reply to this email with "Yes!" (or something like that) and I'll sign you up. (I'll keep these lists separate for the time being.) I've also started an unlisted LinkedIn group for the project, so let me know if you'd like to join that.

Apart from (and related to) The Life I Want project, the year has clarified for me that I love helping individuals and teams thrive. So I took the Fundamentals of Co-Active Coaching course and started coaching people 1:1, and facilitated a few team strategy days, and would love to do more of both. I'd be happy to chat about either if you're interested, and refer you to others if I'm not the right fit.

I'm also resuming the periodic conference calls that many of you have taken part in, to build our community of people interested in social impact. Not surprisingly, the last few conversations have taken a turn away from tactical CSR into bigger questions about work and life and purpose. Ping me anytime if you'd like to join a call.

We've landed back in the U.S. and are working out our next move, most likely relocating to Oregon. I'm excited for this next phase of personal and professional adventure!

A few additional bits and bobs:  What have you enjoyed reading and listening to recently?

I hope, as always, that you'll send me your thoughts and keep me posted on your journeys.

With gratitude,
