Department of Art’s Keith Roberson was recently featured in Seoul, South Korea at the “Artist and Location” Exhibition at the Czong Institute for Contemporary Art (CICA) for his experimental animation “Fractal Trail Ride” combining algorithmic fractals and video of our Apalachicola Forest trails.

Art History

On October 7th & 8th, 2016 the Department of Art History will proudly host our 34th Graduate Student Symposium in room 2005 WJB. This annual event brings together graduate students from programs around the country for presentation and discussion of their research.

Interior Architecture & Design

Recently, IA+D held their alumni reception & advisory board meeting in Atlanta, GA at the Steelcase Work Life Center on September 22 and 23rd. The alumni reception was sponsored by Steelcase and alumni from many decades had the chance to mingle and network.

Dance

Sixteen Florida State University School of Dance students have had an extraordinary dance experience this fall. The students were able to work one-on-one with famed ballerina, Suzanne Farrell, to learn a piece of repertoire by world renowned choreographer George Balanchine.

Theatre

FSU School of Theatre Alum, Andre Holland, currently stars in the 6th season of the hit FX series “American Horror Story”. The season premiere, which aired on September 14, reached over 8.4 million viewers making it one of the highest rated episodes in the series’ history.

Facility for Arts Research

Small Craft Advisory Press (SCAP) Publications has recently been acquired by prominent national and international collections. Florida State University will be hosting the College Book Art Association Meeting January 13-14, 2017.

FSU / Asolo Conservatory

Zlatomir Moldovanski, a 2014 graduate of the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training has received a prestigious fellowship with the Birmingham Conservatory for Classical Theatre at the renowned Stratford Festival in Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

MANCC

Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography (MANCC) Artists Ranee Ramaswamy and Aparna Ramaswamy, co-Artistic Directors of Ragamala, return to Tallahassee to perform Written in Water as part of Opening Nights on October 5 – 6, 2016.

Museum of Fine Arts

“Alphonse Mucha & Art Nouveau” will be at the Museum of Fine Arts from October 14 to November 20, 2016 with an opening reception on October 14th. The exhibut will include illustrations of Alphonse Mucha, “the graceful lilt of Art Nouveau is evident.”

The Ringling

This fall, The Ringling will open its first permanent galleries devoted to modern and contemporary art. These galleries will make The Ringling’s growing 20th- and 21st-century collections more visible, and will bolster its stature as a major commissioner of contemporary interdisciplinary art.
