ART

FSU Art Professor, Jeff Beekman, is completing a summer residency at Arte Studio Ginestrelle in Italy along with four other artists – a sound designer from Taiwan, a clothing designer from Japan, and two painters, one from Australia and the other from England.

ART HISTORY

Associate Professor Lynn Jones has edited a new anthology of essays with Ashgate Publishing, Byzantine Images and their Afterlives: Essays in honor of Annemarie Weyl Carr. 

INTERIOR DESIGN

Interior Design faculty and students attended NeoCON in June. In addition to listening to keynote addresses by leading architects and designers, students and faculty visited showrooms to see the latest products and learn about current research.

DANCE

Each summer, the School of Dance hosts 60 young dancers (accepted by audition) to participate in a Summer Dance Intensive. This summer, the workshop is being held June 15th through the 28th.

THEATRE

Catie Humphreys (BA Theatre, 2009) and David Kimple (BFA Acting, 2010) have spent the week in master-classes with Broadway and Off-Broadway professionals that are helping to bridge the gap between school and professional theatre.

FACILITY FOR ARTS RESEARCH

FAR hosted the opening reception of Quarto: Four Years of Artists’ Books by Resident Artists at the Small Craft Advisory Press, which featured a gallery talk by AB Gorham.

ASOLO

Get your calendars out and plan to make your trip to Sarasota for the FSU/Asolo Conservatory season! The Conservatory’s season kicks off with David Mamet’s The Water Engine (Nov. 5-23).

MANCC

MANCC is pleased to announce that they are the first recipient of the Princess Grace Foundation Choreography Mentorship Co-Commission Award. 

MASTER CRAFTSMAN STUDIO

Master Craftsman Studio has recently installed a set of stained glass windows in honor of the Florida State University Gymnastics Team and the Gymkana Show Troupe. 

MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS

Two artists are celebrating the completion of their BFA degrees: Taylor Devine and Julianna Mercado will open a two-person show on the evening of July 11 from 6-8pm. 

RINGLING

It's a season for excitement as The Circus Arts Conservatory proudly teams up with The Ringling, for their eighth consecutive year, to present the fabulous and affordable Summer Circus Spectacular 2014.
