The Ringling: Connecting With Young Familie...


Two shows which opened in two concurrent weekends this past August at the Hudson River Valley included prints by FSU Art faculty Dan Torop. He was included in the Sound Behind You 2, as well as, in the Frontispiece Hudson, a nonprofit artist’s residency.

Art Education

“Uprooting & Rerouting: Origins, Journeys, Identity” will be located at the WJB Gallery through September 24, 2016. This exhibition features the work of New Orleans-based artist, Gina Phillips, with an artist reception on September 23 from 5:00 – 8:00PM.

Art History

The Department of Art History is excited to announce a new 4+1 combined degree program in Museum and Cultural Heritage Studies which allows academically ambitious FSU undergraduates to complete both a BA and an MA degree in five years.

Interior Architecture & Design

The Department of Interior Architecture + Design is hosting an alumni event in Atlanta on September 22, 2016 from 6:00 – 7:30PM. Alumni and friends are encouraged to attend and learn more about the program while catching up with former classmates and faculty.


School of Dance welcomes back both new and returning students alike. Two incoming MFA graduate students, Bridget Close and Julie Opiel, have been recognized by Florida State University and were awarded prestigious university-wide fellowships.


The College of Fine Arts is proud to announce that Florida State University’s School of Theatre, has been named in the top five for a BFA in Acting in the country for the 2016 – 2017 school year! In 2015 the Musical Theatre Program was named in the top ten.

Facility for Arts Research

Join the Facility for Arts Research (FAR) for their Open House featuring all of FAR’s organizations: Small Craft Advisory Press (SCAP), formLab, REBOOT, and The Comma Project on September 9, 2016 from 5:30 – 7:30PM!

FSU / Asolo Conservatory

Professor Andrei Malaev-Babel, Head of Acting at the Florida State University/Asolo Conservatory of Actor Training, in collaboration with Dr. Margarita Laskina, just released a monumental volume, dedicated to Nikolai Demidov’s theatrical heritage.


Maggie Allesse National Center for Choreography (MANCC) welcomes back acclaimed choreographer Tere O’Connor August 31 – September 15, 2016 who will be offering a unique chance for the campus community to hear him speak and see his work before it premieres in NYC.

Museum of Fine Arts

“The Birth Project: Born Again,” works by artist Judy Chicago completed between 1980 and 1985, will be available to visitors at the Museum of Fine Arts beginning September 24, 2016 with an opening reception on October 14, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00PM.

The Ringling

As part of its goal to meaningfully engage visitors ages five and under, last year The Ringling inaugurated a partnership with the Forty Carrots Parenting Program in Sarasota to provide art activities to young children at local libraries.
