June 2013 Newsletter
The E.P.I.C. Ministry Core Team has decided to hold our weekly Faith Sharing on Mondays instead of Thursdays beginning in June.  This will allow us to collaborate with other young adult ministries and seemed to have been a more opportune day for most young adults.  We look forward to the benefits this change will create for us!

JUNE 2013
From the Coordinator:
"Extraordinarily Ordinary"
After five weeks of Lent, one very Holy Week, seven weeks of Easter culminating in Pentecost, and extend that with two more weekends of solemnities, it's been quite a liturgical journey over the past several months.

Now, the Liturgical Year returns to Ordinary Time.  But that word "ordinary" can be deceptive because there really is nothing "ordinary" about Ordinary Time.  The term "ordinary" refers to the ordering of the weeks (2nd Sunday, 3rd Sunday, 4th Sunday, etc.) rather than it being the "same ol'" thing going on.  In fact, it is during this time of the year that the Church focuses more intently on the teachings, miracles, mission, and ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ.  And we all know that the life of our Lord is anything but ordinary.

If we follow Christ's extraordinary example of love, and if we walk in his extraordinary footsteps, this extraordinary action will eventually become what is ordinary in our lives.  Replace bad habits with good ones.  Find ways to overcome those obstacles and hurdles that prevent us from following Jesus more closely.  Hang out with like-minded individuals who are willing to support you and one another through their struggles in their journey of faith.

So here's the challenge during this Ordinary Time...make the extraordinary the ordinary in your life.
Baccalaureate Mass
On Thursday, May 30th, our E.P.I.C. Ministry sponsored a Baccalaureate Mass and Fellowship for those who graduated this past year from high school or college.  We did receive about a dozen names for those who graduated, but about half of those were able to attend this special event.  Regardless of the amount of people there, it was a great, successful event.  We were able to meet "new" young adults and introduce them to this ministry.  We continue to offer our prayers to all our graduates and wish them many blessings for their next chapter in their lives!
LHS Graduation Parking Fundraiser
On a slightly separate note, the E.P.I.C. Ministry coordinated a parking fundraiser during Leilehua's graduation this year.  The ministry raised over $1,200!  Thank you to everyone who supported us!

The monies raised will go towards a planned pilgrimage to Kalaupapa in late August.  Our next parking fundraiser will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Mission in Waimea on Tuesday, June 11 (Kamehameha Day) from 8:00 AM.

Friday, June 21 - Saturday, June 22
St. Joseph Parish and School, Waipahu

Tickets are on sale now! This 3-part series will be held at Pearl Ultralounge and is just $15 per session. That gets you entrance into the event as well as dinner and soft drinks. Any alcoholic drinks can be purchased on your own at the bars located in the venue. It's going to be a nice time for you to sit down, eat and drink, and talk story about God.

Open to young adults age 21 and older.
