Award season is here! With a number of deadlines coming up, on behalf of the NBSPRN team, I am writing to extend our support in assisting with the development of your policy-related, cross-sector research proposals and applications for the SSHRC, CIHR, and NSERC funding competitions.
To strengthen the policy research capacity in New Brunswick, the Network offers a number of options for its members seeking research or grant proposal support such as team building, coordinating letters of support and matching funds as well as identifying opportunities for cross-sector, interdisciplinary, and inter-institutional collaboration. For example:
Idea Generation and Alignment
By maintaining a database of the research interests of all academic members, the research needs of community members as well as a list of theGovernment of New Brunswick’s policy research priorities (available on our website), NBSPRN is able to support collaboration and alignment within and across member groups. The GNB document for example can act as a starting point for developing projects that align with the current provincial policy agenda. The Network can also help researchers share possible proposal ideas with other members with the aim of preparing a joint proposal for a future competition.
To respond to the growing demand for collaboration and co-creation, NBSPRN can help members to identify either academic, government, or community-based collaborators or co-investigators for a research project through its membership database. The Network is also well connected nationally and can therefore also help identify potential collaborators and find relevant research expertise on a larger scale.
NBSPRN is committed to mobilizing and sharing research, and as such, all members have free access to the NB Institute of Research Data and Training, and the Research Data Centre. The Network is also a partner of a number of initiatives including the Inspire NB Career Planning Platform and the Innovation Data Partnership. Knowledge Mobilization Planning
Because many funding agencies (SSHRC, CIHR, NSERC) now require a knowledge mobilization/translation/transfer component, NBSPRN is available to work with academic members to develop Knowledge Mobilization plans for their proposals, execute the events as well as translate and disseminate research results. Not to mention, NBSPRN can assist with the identification of opportunities for collaboration on larger knowledge mobilization events, identify small awards for events, and help schedule meetings and presentations to eventually share research findings.
