What happened next...

The Remembering Tree 2013 raised an incredible £5,132.75...

When we embarked on our Yarn Bombing journey we had no idea what to expect or the reception we would receive. However, as you all know we had a great amount of support both financially and morally. So, delighted with last year we have already begun the preparations for this year.

But before that we wanted to update you and tell you what we did next after the tree was 'de-robed' in January 2014.

January 2014 The tree is de-robed.

The squares were removed in the early morning of January 19th, with the help of AJH Developments. They were then taken to be sorted, unstitched into smaller panels and washed.

The squares were prepared and then sent to RSA with our Director, Charlie.

TRT blankets arrive in South Africa

The blankets were taken by our Director Charlie on his bi-annual visit to GAGA supported projects in South Africa. Charlie distributed the blankets, giving some to Hola Baby House, Durban.

Baby Onathi was delighted to model her new TRT blanket for us.

What we did with the funds.

Such an amazing amount was raised and this allowed us to support some great initiatives as well as our on-going work, including;

Assisting Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust (HACT) to train a new Nurse and employ a Patient Advocate (read more here)

and we were also able to support LETCEE's new toy library (read more here)

We have also continued to support our core projects in South Africa; First Step Right, 1000 Hills Community Helpers, ZimeleSithembakuye and Ithembalihle.

Your support of TRT 2013 made this possible.

Looking forward...

Preparations for The Remembering Tree 2014 are now well under way. We have identified our new tree and have some exciting elements of crochet to make this tree a bit different; more to follow soon. The tree will still be in Stratford upon Avon and will be decorated over the weekend to coincide with the 1st of December 2014.
