A Pop-up Market for Innovations
&
Deep Dive Working Sessions

You are invited to submit one or both of the following: 

1) A "Promising Practice" to Share During the Pop-up Market for Innovations

Tell us about a promising practice, tool, initiative, resource, policy, etc that you would like to share at the Summit because you think others will be interested in learning more about it. The purpose of the Pop-up Market for Innovations is to build awareness about your promising practices through a 5-10 minute "pitch" to small audiences circulating around the Market. Your task will be to quickly and meaningfully engage folks in the marketplace to look at and think a bit about your promising practice and how it might fit into their campus context.

Fields to be completed in the proposal application:
  • Name of the promising practice (tool, initiative, resource, policy, etc)
  • Description
  • Resource link (if applicable)
  • Why might others be interested in learning about this?
  • Please describe why you consider this to be a promising practice (e.g. it is based on evidence/theory, results have been promising based on either anecdotal or formal evaluation, etc)
Commitment: 
  1. Prior to the Summit, share your promising practice as a resource in the Healthy Minds | Healthy Campuses Online Community Platform
  2. Prepare a 5-10 minute plan to quickly and meaningfully engage folks in the marketplace to look at and think a bit about your promising practice and how it might fit into their campus context

2) An "Emerging Practice Area" for Co-Developing a Deep Dive Working Session 

Propose an idea you are grappling with, a challenge you are facing, a question or a resource/ policy/ process/ strategy you are working on that you would like to collaborate with the Planning Committee to develop into a working session for Summit 2016. The purpose of these working sessions will be to leverage experience and skills from across the community o practice to enhance collective capacity for advancing efforts to develop mentally healthy campus communities. 

Potential Working Session Categories:
  • Alcohol and substance use policies 
  • Campus mental health and wellbeing strategies – from development to implementation 
  • Developing and applying a “mental health and wellbeing lens” to post-secondary policies  
  • Dialogue as a mechanism for engagement and change 
  • Evaluation of settings and whole systems approaches 
  • Learning environments and instructor/faculty engagement
  • Sexual violence prevention and responses / Promoting the development of healthy relationships
  • Other (please specify)

March 11 and 12, with pre-Summit workshops on March 10
 

Venue for the Summit
Summit 2016 will take place at the Morris J Wosk Centre for Dialogue downtown Vancouver.  
 
This venue was created to facilitate dialogue and enhance interaction, with the main plenary hall a "UN-style" circular set-up. This old bank building has been turned into a unique meeting space with stunning architecture, natural light and state-of-the-art technology. This venue will be perfect for our upcoming Summit, as it's a space to stimulate meaningful discussion and share ideas.
 

Summit Accommodations
The Metropolitan Hotel has provided us with an outstanding rate.  This unique boutique-style hotel is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, only a 7 minute walk from the Summit venue.

The special rate for conference delegates in $119.00 (plus tax) per room, per night.
