Healthy Minds/Healthy Campuses is a province-wide Community of Practice -- a group of people who share the common goal of promoting campus mental health and reducing risky substance use. The initiative facilitates the exchange of ideas/strategies/resources, new learning and action across campuses. The community is comprised of students, counsellors and student service professionals, practitioners, instructors, administrators, community organizations and government partners from BC and beyond. The new Student Leaders & Recent Alumni group developing within HM/HC wants to invite other students to get involved!
Up until now, students and recent alumni have connected via teleconferences, email and at mulit-stakeholder events like the Healthy Minds/Healthy Campuses Summits. This fall will be the FIRST time that BC students and recent alumni will come together and focus on group-identified priorities, including defining the Student Leaders & Recent Alumni group purpose and structure (and maybe a new name!).
Bringing together students and recent alumni from across BC offers a significant opportunity for sharing ideas and building momentum for student-led action on individual campuses and provincially. What do we mean by action? Engagement events, campaigns, peer groups, initiatives, research, advocacy, etc. About what? From raising awareness about mental health to increasing support to changing policies, practices, programs and environments that impact student wellbeing, learning and success.
