Using the Art of Motivation to Create Healthier Campus Communities
Webinar Details Friday January 30th, 2015
10:00- 11:30am PST
Overview
“Art of Motivation†is a collaborative approach to engage stakeholders, facilitate knowledge exchange and build capacity for change. The principles of motivational interviewing have been applied within the Changing the Culture of Substance Use Project, as well as the broader Healthy Minds | Healthy Campuses Community of Practice. Learn how these strategies can be applied to shift culture on campuses to promote mental health, reduce risky substance use and strengthen connections.
We are very excited to announce the launch of our brand new Healthy Minds | Healthy Campuses website and online social learning community. Thank you to everyone who made our Social Learning & Launch Event such as success. We were left inspired by the energy and passion each of you bring to making change in your campus communities and look forward to continuing conversations that were started at the event in our new online space.
For those of you who were unable to attend, Friday morning kick started with a Morning Session for the Changing the Culture of Substance Use Project where participating campuses shared stories about the work they are doing to shift the culture of substance use on their campuses.
The afternoon multi-stakeholder Social Learning and Launch Event started with a look back at Healthy Minds | Healthy Campuses over the years in celebration of a decade of change. Rita Knodel was interviewed by Jonny Morris to share her experience as a long-time community member and shared insight into the new UVic Mental Health Strategy.
The brand new website and online social learning community were unveiled with a Launch Presentation to share some insights as to why the online space was designed and how it might be useful to community members.
The event continued with Open Space, where community members where able to pitch a topic for discussion, seek guidance from colleagues, propose future collaborative projects, or showcase something they wanted to share. The Open Space topics will be shared in our online community to continue important conversations that were started.
An evening reception was held, where participants were asked to provide feedback on our new proposed tagline, "Creating Connections. Inspiring Change." and asked to prioritize learning agenda topics for the upcoming year. The event was a big success and we are so grateful to each of you for your involvement with the Healthy Minds | Healthy Campuses community of practice.
Topics community members shared formed participant-driven concurrent sessions during Open Space.
