It is hard to believe that it is the end of a very busy and exciting year! Thank you for your ongoing support and collaboration, as we work together to build healthier campus communities. In warm appreciation of all the work you have done over the last year, we extend our wishes for a very happy holiday season.

Using the Art of Motivation to Create Healthier Campus Communities
To kick off the new year, we will be holding a webinar on the "Art of Motivation" which all stakeholders on campus can use to bring about positive change. As we look to the year ahead, this webinar will provide practical strategies to inform how you interact with other stakeholders on your campus or within your community organization.

Overview
“Art of Motivation†is a collaborative approach to engage stakeholders, facilitate knowledge exchange and build capacity for change. The principles of motivational interviewing have been applied within the Changing the Culture of Substance Use Project, as well as the broader Healthy Minds/Healthy Campuses Community of Practice. Learn how these strategies can be applied to shift culture on campuses to promote mental health, reduce risky substance use and strengthen connections.

We are excited to be hosting two back-to-back events in January at the beautiful Listel Hotel in downtown Vancouver. Healthy Minds/Healthy Campuses will be providing some travel and hotel support for community members who are attending outside of Vancouver. Please book your travel as soon as possible and we will reimburse community members traveling from outside of Vancouver at a specified rate.
To reserve your hotel room, call the Listel Hotel at 604-684-8461 and ask for a room in the Healthy Minds/Healthy Campuses room block. You will need a credit card for any additional charges or incidentals that are acquired during your stay. Rooms will be held at a first-come, first-served basis until January 9th, 2015 so be sure to call before then to guarantee a room.

Social Learning & Launch Event

Join us on January 23rd, 2015 from 1:00-5:00 for an afternoon with Community of Practice members from across the province. Be part of setting the learning agenda for the upcoming year, start conversations that matter to you and connect with other stakeholders who are working to design healthier campus communities. Be the first to see our brand new website and participate in a workshop on our new online social learning community, which will help enable community members to share knowledge, questions, resources, ideas and more with other community members. In the evening from 5:00- 7:00pm, there will be a reception for community members to connect and network together to kick off another great year!

On January 24th, 2015 from 9:00am- 5:00pm all student leaders and recent graduates from across British Columbia who share the common goal of promoting mental health and healthier relationships with substances on campus are invited to join us in Vancouver, BC! The "Mapping a Healthy Post-Secondary Culture" student event will bring together a vibrant group of student leaders from across the province to formalize the structure of the current Student Leaders and Recent Alumni Group, set the learning agenda and priorities for the upcoming year and provide a space for students to connect and share with one another. ALL students are welcome to get involved, as this is a new and emerging group!
