Dear Community of Practice Members,


We hope 2015 has been off to a great start for you. To kick off the new year and to celebrate a decade of campus change and innovation in British Columbia, we are hosting a multi-stakeholder event on January 23rd followed by a provincial student event on January 24th.

Both events will be hosted at the Listel Hotel, known as "Vancouver's most art-full hotel." 

If you haven't registered yet, please do so as soon as possible. Space is limited and registration will close January 20th at noon. If you know someone who may be interested in attending either of these events, please extend the invitation to them. 


We look forward to seeing you next week! Don't forget to bring a laptop or tablet if you can.

Social Learning & Launch Event

Event Objectives
  1. Facilitate the sharing of new ideas, resources/initiatives, challenges and promising approaches across campuses
  2. Build capacity around using the highly anticipated online social learning community platform to support ongoing knowledge exchange and collaborative action
  3. Prioritize learning objectives and resource development for the coming year
  4. Support multi-stakeholder networking 
  5. Celebrate a decade of innovation and change led by community of practice members

What is an "Open Space Concurrent Session"? 

Participants are invited to pitch a topic live on the day. 

Topics can be to:
  • stimulate discussion
  • seek guidance from your colleagues
  • explore future collaborative projects
  • showcase something you want to share 
The topics then form participant-driven simultaneous conversations for meaningful, effective knowledge exchange and generation.

The people who pitch topics, host the table conversations.

This process has been a valued feature by our annual Summit participants.

Travel Funding Support Details

Participants attending the events from outside the lower mainland are eligible for funding support. This includes coverage of hotel accommodation and the most economical method of travel. Hotel rooms will be paid for directly by us. Professionals will be reimbursed for travel expenses after the event. Student travel involving pre-booked tickets, will be arranged directly by CMHA. Students who are carpooling to the event, please track your kilometers for submitting an expense claim form after the event. 

Process:

1. Indicate if you require travel funding support when you register online.
  • Professionals: please keep your receipts/track your kilometers in order to complete an expense claim form that will be sent to you 
  • Students: we will be in touch with you to confirm your travel plans prior to the event
2. Book your hotel room by calling the Listel Hotel at 604-688-3234 to reserve a room in the Healthy Minds | Healthy Campuses block. Room rate of $99 is guaranteed until January 16th. Note that you will need to provide a credit card number at time of booking to cover incidentals if incurred.   

Note: Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres are included at the event on January 23rd and breakfast, lunch and refreshments on January 24th.
