Latest news from Walk on Wales, supporting the Welsh Guards Afghanistan Appeal and Combat Stress
Walk on Wales

The Walk on Wales initiative touched thousands of people last year and as a result of the fantastic support it received from our partners and sponsors, from everyone who walked, held events or cheered and helped us on our way, it was able to pass on significant funds to both Combat Stress and the Welsh Guards Afghanistan Appeal.

On June 13 at the Sennedd we were delighted to present cheques of £132,064.64 to each of our nominated charities, Combat Stress and the Welsh Guards Afghanistan Appeal. Tim Brawn, Director of Fundraising & Communications, received the cheque on behalf of Combat Stress and Major General Robert Talbot-Rice on behalf of the WGAA.

Having identified areas of support that would benefit Welsh Service men, women and veterans, we are thrilled to announce that Walk on Wales has now registered as a charity. This will therefore be the last Newsletter from Walk on Wales 2013!

Liberty Lodges Project

Our shared vision for the next 3 years is to develop, build and establish three Liberty Lodges situated on the Welsh Coast.  The lodges will be built as a legacy to those Service men and women who have given their lives in active service and will provide an environment where veterans, current Service men, women and their families can go to enjoy each others’ company and the benefits of the stunning Welsh coastline.

WOW at the Royal Welsh

Next week from Monday 21 to Thursday 24 July, WOW will be taking a stand at the Royal Welsh Show. We would like to thank the Welsh family of Regiments: the Welsh Guards, the Royal Welsh and the Queen's Dragoon Guards (Welsh Cavalry Regt) for their help at the show and for their support going forward with the new charity.

Dave Price and his great team of volunteers would really appreciate your support, so please do go along and visit the stand and enjoy a great day out at the show!

Walk on Wales Charity

David Graham and Jan Koops are delighted to hand over the reins of WOW to the new Trustees: Col Hugh Bodington (Chairman), Alison Elson, Dominic Lonergan and Col Phil Hubbard with Dave Price as Project Manager. With a new-look website and exciting plans for the future, we very much hope that you will all continue to support the new charity. Keep a look out on Facebook for information about events taking place, we'll keep you posted!
