Introduction to Restorative Practices and Using Circles Effectively
Wednesday & Thursday,
January 13 - 14, 2021

Join the CCIU and the International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP) for two full days focused on building and strengthening relationships, successfully responding to conflict and facilitating restorative circles. Each day offers hands-on opportunities for participants to develop constructive, restorative practices.
During day one, participants will practice:
- Providing direct feedback
- Asking questions that foster accountability
- Using effective methods to resolve common conflicts
During day two, participants will learn how circles:
- Build social capital
- Resolve social problems
- Create positive learning environments
Beneficial for K-12 teachers and administrators, school counselors, mental health practitioners, social workers, school psychologists and crisis intervention specialists.

Facilitating Restorative Conferences
Tuesday & Wednesday,
May 4 - 5, 2021
|
|
The CCIU will host the IIRP for two full days focused on developing and facilitating a formal, scripted circle process to address racial incidents, bullying, vandalism and other serious infractions. Participants will learn the steps required to conduct a restorative justice conference, from determining the readiness of victims, offenders, their families and friends to participate, to running the formal meeting itself.
Whether or not participants are directly responsible for conducting conferences, all workshop attendees will learn how to better address everyday conflict and incidents in the workplace and community.
Skills taught include:
- Monitoring personal reactions in stressful situations
- Listening with empathy
- Creating shared understanding among conflicting parties
Beneficial for superintendents, central office administrators and teacher leaders.
