“There are no perfect homemakers…just real moms, deciding what’s right for their family, and working to create a warm, nurturing home for those they love.” –Jill Savage, NO MORE PERFECT MOMS
There’s always someone who can do it better: someone who cooks better, keeps house better, decorates better, or gives the appearance that they do it all well.
And while Pinterest is a great tool for organizing your homemaking ideas and finding new ones, it can get those nasty thoughts of comparison going like nothing else. One look at the meals others are pinning or the crafts and décor they want to create, and you can suddenly feel very inadequate as a mom.
Yes, someone is always going to do things better, but that doesn’t have to take away from the home atmosphere you create for your family. When the comparison bug starts invading your thoughts, it takes a disciplined mind to stop and remember that you were created with special and unique talents. Your home is not going to look like anyone else’s. That’s the way it’s supposed to be.
Challenge: Take inventory of the traditions, meals, and activities that make your home warm and your family special. The next time you’re tempted to compare, stop and remember your list. Then give thanks for the ways God made your home and family unique.
We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise. 2 Corinthians 10:12
