Australian Concerto & Vocal Competition
Newsletter May 2016
Billet Hosts Required
Many of our competitors come from far and wide to visit our little corner of the world to compete in the Australian Concerto & Vocal Competition. However, for many, the cost of accommodation is too prohibitive when included along with flights, food and other expenses.
Do you have room in your home and life to open your doors to a young musician requiring a host for a few days? This is a fantastic chance to bond over a love of music, share your experiences, make new friends and kick-start their musical career. Please contact us if you’re able to help out.
The Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition relies heavily on volunteers like yourself to put together this fantastic competition that gives so much to our community and local performers. Are you able to help us out?
We are looking for volunteers to assist with Front of House or with helping our competitors during 22 – 26 July. Please contact us if you are able to lend a hand in any way.
Bronwyn Douglass Recital Review
Just recently, the Australian Concerto & Vocal Competition was thrilled to have our open Vocal winner, Bronwyn Douglass (mezzo-soprano), come back to Townsville for an intimate recital at the Perc Tucker Gallery. She thrilled our audience with her beauty of tone, precise vocal control and unmistakable dramatic prowess as she performed some of the repertoire’s most difficult pieces flawlessly. From the sorrow of Handel’s Dove Sei to the drama of Wagner’s Der Engel, Bronwyn captivated our audience from start to finish.
We’d like to thank Bronwyn for taking the time out of her very busy schedule to return to Townsville and gracing us with that spectacular voice once again.
Are you an aspiring musician looking for performance opportunity and feedback from internationally renowned adjudicators?
With arts funding being slashed nationwide and such opportunities becoming more and more limited, don’t miss this chance to compete in a nationally recognised competition still going strong in its 37th year! Entries close 1 June – don’t miss out!
