The Connecting Cities Events are city-to-city live interventions that are embedded in local programmes and festivals. In 2013 several Connecting Cities Events already took place in Melbourne, Dessau, Berlin, Liverpool, Linz, Madrid, Riga, Helsinki and Brussels. More Connecting Cities Events will take place until November and are embedded in different festivals.

Amber Platform: amber'13 Art and Technology Festival
Conference: 2 – 4 November 2013, different venues
Exhibition: 1 – 10 November 2013, Arap Cami Mh., Banka Sokak No:11, İstanbul
For this occasion amber’13 festival will host Connecting Cities’ first International Conference on Saturday, 2 November 2013. Moderated by Ekmel Ertan; Susa Pop, Soren Pold, Nerea Calvillo, Mike Stubbs, Veronika Pauser, Darko Fritz and Minna Tarkka will discuss the topic “Urban Media: Connecting Cities†during the Panel 4 (3 Nov at 12pm – 2.30pm). The Connecting Cities Conference will take place in the context of Amber’13 Conference, 2 – 4 November 2013 under the topic of ‘DID YOU PLUG IT IN?’ questioning your smartness.
Along with Amber’13 Conference the Amber’13 Festival is taking place from 1 - 10 November 2013 and encourages you to “Fool Your Smartnessâ€. Instead of supporting the “ever-growing inflation of smartness†which promotes consumption and control, one should open up to foolishness, a new way of thinking, that allows critical interrogation, creative thinking and deconstruction.

Connecting Cities Event #5: 15 - 18 November 2013
Riga
During the fifth edition of the festival, the Connecting Cities projects Ready to Cloud (The Constitute) and Space for Mind Migration (Kristaps Ancans) will be shown in the framework of Riga’S Festival of Light "Staro Riga".
The 3-day event will show around 100 outdoor installations that transform Riga's panorama and local landmarks using light and video.

During the second edition of SP_Urban Digital festival, the Connecting Cities project Sonic Skate Plaza by Pablo Ena, Reza Safavi and Sergio Galán transforms São Paulo’s urban setting.
The festival that takes place from 4 - 28 November, explores the theme Digital Citizen. SP_Urban Digital offers an urban stage to national and international artists whose works merge architecture, art and media using new technologies and a versatile program including many workshops.

The Big Picture: MUTEK Image in Motion

21 - 23 November 2013 @ PHI Centre Montreal
The autumnal event MUTEK IMAGE IN MOTION is a meeting point for digital art professionals and the Montreal public. The three-day event, MUTEK_IMG focuses on the practices of moving images in the context of digital creation. It brings together artists and professionals and offers an artistic evening program as well as presentations, workshops and panels.
The complete program, including a series of audio-visual based performances in the evening, will be unveiled on October 31.

Call for Proposals: ISEA2014 - DUBAI

Extended submission deadline: 21 November 2013
Within the frame of the 20th International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA2014), held in Dubai, artists are invited to join and reflect on the role and stance of the new media artist, the future of social media in art and concepts such as trans-global cooperation, emerging economies and nomadic existence in a current context.
The committee encourages individual (interdisciplinary) artists and/or creative teams to submit their proposals under the main topic ‘Location’.
