Last week, Nate Muse taught us from James 3:1-12.  Here are some key points:
  • We've all been negatively affected or encouraged by words.
  • Our words cannot be disconnected from our hearts.
  • Everyone will give an account of their words.
  • Maturity is evidenced by how you control your tongue, whether you are controlled by it, and whether you understand how powerful it is.
  • Wickedness and brokenness in our world find their way in the tongue.
  • Be cautious in interpreting Scriptures based on the man-made section headings in your Bible. For example, although we are commonly told to tame the tongue, this passage never says that. We ARE told it's not humanly possible. We need the help of the Holy Spirit.
  • Double-mindedness is at odds with faith. It's like saying "God, in this situation, You are not enough."
  • Double-mindedness is living at odds with joy.
  • Double-mindedness in our tongue is when we speak blessing and cursing, speaking out of both sides of our mouth.
  • Our words follow our heart. Let's start there. Unite our hearts to fear your name.
  • Have you listened to yourself lately?

#SERVEMAULDIN  Thanksgiving Project

Our current project is to partner with our friends at Messiah Lutheran Church Food Bank to help them provide Thanksgiving meal boxes for those in need.  Messiah has the food items for side dishes covered, but we are providing gift cards to help people be able to purchase the meat they want.  We are collecting  $15 gift cards from Ingles or Publix.* Drop them off in the box at church or mail it to our secure PO box at

Freedom Church
2131 Woodruff Road, Suite 2100 #110
Greenville SC 29607.

All gift cards must be for $15 to remain consistent with the gifting. *BiLo is no longer issuing gift cards due to the pending closures/transfers to Food Lion so we are recommending Ingles or Publix. Thanks for your help!

#churchfamily Work Day - Saturday, November 7 - 9:00am - 12:30pm
