Last week, Russ Muse taught us from James 4:1-12 and also provided us some general encouragement which included a review of our core values of knowing God, experiencing freedom, discovering purpose and making a difference. Here are some key thoughts:
  • Let endurance have its perfect work. No purpose of God will be thwarted.
  • Anxiety tells me I don't know God as I should.
  • Prayer is very important and can lead us into action, too.  Be willing to put action to what you are praying about, as God leads you.
  • Anger in the midst of trial may make our faith ineffective.
  • Lust leads us to quarrels. We get angry about what we cannot have.
  • When going through a trial, ask youself, "Do I have a heavenly perspective on this?"
  • Some "wisdom" is actually demonic.  For example, our selfish desires combined with Satan's false reasoning can lead to spiritial death.
  • God intends for us to be His and only His - we should not be looking for our needs to be met by people and things other than God.  Ask God for what you need.
