Last week, Russ Muse taught from Galatians 2:1-10.  Here are some key points:
  • Whatever is in your heart will leak out.  Paul obviously meditated on God's grace because he was enthusiastic about sharing it and his experience.
  • There are healthy and unhealthy ways to deal with your past.  It is unhealthy to turn toward guilt and shame. It is healthy to embrace grace and how you are set apart for God.
  • The depth of God's grace made Paul amazed that the Galatians would turn from it toward more rule-keeping..
  • The Jews disliked the Gentiles and they felt they were a disruption. They wanted to make the Gentiles adhere to Jewish rules in addition to the grace offered them.
  • Rulekeepers believe they deserve blessing because of following the rules. This is a distorted gospel.
  • Rulekeepers only feel safe when they are keeping the rules AND when those around them are keeping the rules.
  • The Gospel doesn't intend for us to carry our failures.
  • None of us earn grace. None of us deserve it.

Passage Links
Reviewing: Galatians 2:1-10
Preparing: Galatians 2:11-19

Homework:  Think about rule-keeping in your walk with the Lord. Do you find yourself wanting to check off a list of rules because it makes you feel like you are doing the right things?

Manuscript Version:  Click here for a manuscript version of this week's passage that you can print and mark up with notes.
Bible Study Tip:  Ask yourself, "What did this mean to the original hearers?"

Dough-Notes: Get your notecards back to us this Sunday so we can package them with the donuts for teachers and staff!

Student Easter Egg Baskets:  With the cancellation of the Mauldin Egg Drop, We will be providing students an Easter basket of plastic eggs to take home on their holiday.  The church is providing the plastic eggs, but we need YOU to provide the small, individually wrapped candies for us to stuff the eggs with. We will collect candy through March 21st and assemble the baskets on Wednesday, March 24 at 6:30pm if you'd like to help. Candy must be individually wrapped (i.e. chocolate kisses, mini chocolate bars), be able to fit into plastic eggs, and contain NO NUTS.

Mock Rock
Checking Out Check-in

This Sunday, we will be offering a Beta check-in station for families involved with Freedom Kids.  Please check your kids in the normal way. After they are settled in class, if you have time to come back to the "Mock Rock Station"  to try out the new system it would be greatly appreciated! You can also do so after the service.  Beth Beutler will be available to help you.
Don't forget to spring ahead before going to sleep Saturday night!
It's time for more light in the evenings!
