Privyet! (Hello!)
It has been quite a while since we've been in touch with everyone through a mass e-mail newsletter. Many of you know what has been going on in our personal lives as well as in Ukraine and may be able to understand this period of silence.
We are both in Kyiv and our ministry is functioning as it always has -- thankful for so many able-bodied Ukrainian workers who faithfully continued their visits with hospitalized HIV/AIDS children while Marianna was in the States. During this calendar year Jim has already been in Sweden twice, Hungary once and all over Ukraine...not to mention a stint in the States to meet two precious granddaughters born less than a month apart and to take part in several missions conferences.
Ukraine is fighting for its territorial integrity and its right to remain a sovereign nation. We ask you to join us in prayer for this country we currently call home. And especially we ask for prayer during this month leading up to elections on May 25 -- this is a crucial election (no matter who wins, the election MUST take place) and these next weeks are likely to be fraught with chaos and turmoil as opponents to the election process seek to destabilize this country so elections will be cancelled or postponed.

We were blessed with the births of two more grandchildren -- two little girls to go with the three big boys!
Solomia (on the left) belongs to Jamie and Dasha...and Lydian, of course. She was born in Salisbury in early March and was loved on greatly by all! She was fortunate to have her Ukrainian Baba Lena at her home for two months.
Elza (on the right) belongs to Jeanne and Kolya...and Milan and Alek. She was born in early February, but because of a pre-diagnosed heart problem she was born at Johns Hopkins Hospital undergoing open heart surgery at five days old. Marianna stayed in Maryland to assist the parents with the boys (while Mama and Elza were in the hospital for 3 weeks) and then at home as they all adjusted to new routines -- and a lack of sleep!
