Garden Plots Available

We have unexpectedly just received the soil  for the Site 1 expansion area. Since there is still time to plant, it would be best if we could find people to use this space. We have 5 full plots and 2 half plots available.

If you know of anyone who still wants a plot have them sign up on the website for a plot and show up on Wednesday to help prepare the plots.

Site 1 Work Bee

We need to spread the soil that was just received at Site 1. While it does not take much work, time is limited to get this ready and your help would be appreciated. Wednesday June 19 3-5 PM and 6-9 PM come out for whatever time you have available.

Weledeh Irrigation Work Bee

Another work bee is scheduled for Weledeh Site 4 on June 22, 11 AM to 3 PM to install our new irrigation drip line. We are calling for all volunteers that want to assist, but also anyone with the know-how and/ or experience in setting up irrigation systems. A great opportunity to learn about drip irrigation. If this works well we will consider installing them at other garden sites.

Please contact the site manager, Caihla, if you have questions.

Fence Material Needed

At site 1 we need about 2 or three 50 ft pieces of temporary fencing to protect the new garden areas. This could be wire fence or any kind of snow fencing. It just needs to be solid enough to keep out small animals. If you have some please let Dave Taylor know. If we can't find some to borrow for the summer then we will rent what is needed.

Long Term Plan for Site 1

We will attempt to use the new space at site 1 this year. I will install more waterlines at the corner outside the fence by the composters. In September we will install a new outer fence and garden boxes in the new addition area. Eventually we can open the fence by the shed and composters to allow better access to the shed by the areas currently outside the chain link fence. We may even be able to remove some of the chain link fencing.
