Dear colleagues,

welcome to the first regular newsletter of the European Innovation Partnership on Water.

After the adoption of the Strategic Implementation Plan in December 2012, the EIP Water has now entered its operational phase. During 2013 the EIP Water will develop several activities and plans to deliver concrete outputs in several areas such as the establishment of Action Groups, the launch of the web-based market place and the first annual EIP Water Conference on 21 November this year.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for more information or read more about the EIP Water here.
We look forward to hearing from you. Best regards,

The EIP Water team

Action Groups

Currently the main activity for the EIP Water is the establishment of Action Groups, which will be at the center of implementing the EIP Water. The first call for expressions of commitment to form Action Groups is now open!

EIP Water Action Groups will bring together diverse partners across various disciplines. They should aim to cover the entire innovation value chain and combine the demand and supply sides of water innovation. For more information about the Action Groups, please have a look at our Action Groups FAQ's and Action Groups Guidelines.

Please use our submission template to express an interest for establishing an Action Group and send a completed version by 4 April 2013 to:

Task Force meeting on 5 March

On 5 March the EIP Water Task Force held a meeting  in Brussels with over fifty participants. The main topics discussed were the priority activities of the Task Force as well as the EIP Water tools which will be developed in addition to the web-based marketplace.  Furthermore, the Task Force suggested for the EIP Water to develop a diagnosis of water innovation barriers and bottlenecks.

Brokerage event

On 20 February, ERRIN, Netwerch H2O, WssTP and SusChem organized a brokerage event for interested Action Groups participants in Brussels. Many potential EIP Water Action Groups were discussed and we are pleased to provide more related details about their themes, interested stakeholders and contacts. Please do get in touch with the relevant contacts mentioned here in case you wish to identify partners for a joint expression of commitment for an Action Group!

What happens next?

The next steps of the EIP Water will be to develop its Operational Plan, to select and establish Action Groups working on the key priorities defined in the Strategic Implementation Plan, and to develop a diagnosis of water innovation barriers and bottlenecks. The EIP Water Steering Group will discuss them during their May 2013 meeting. Activities for conceptualizing and developing the web-based Market place are already in place and the launch is planned for September 2013.

We have also started the design and definition of themes of the first EIP Water Conference which will take place on 21 November 2013 in Brussels – save the date!
