EIP Water knowledge exchange in the Arabian Gulf

The organisers of the International Water Summit asked EIP Water to lead a delegation to Abu Dhabi from January 15-18 to share knowledge on early-stage innovations for groundwater, industrial water and smart technologies.

Naji El Haddad, the event director, said: “Through the EU-Gulf Water Innovation Knowledge Exchange, visitors and delegates from around the Middle East have learnt how innovation is helping to implement EU water policies - some of the strictest in the world. Numerous collaboration opportunities were formed and the delegation was a vibrant highlight that helped to still a great thirst for knowledge about solutions for the challenges of arid regions.”

With 17 seminars, an exhibition, a session in the main conference and dozens of arranged meetings, the delegation had a busy time sharing their knowledge. But they also came away with business and collaboration opportunities, improved market knowledge, advancement ideas for their innovations, technology transfer projects and a widened professional perspective.

One delegate stated, “Experiences made in the EU translate well to the situation in the Gulf and we’ve effectively helped accelerate innovations that solve societal challenges whilst enhancing Europe's competitiveness, job creation and economic growth.”

Independent implementation review of EIP Water

The independent, external evaluation of EIP Water is ongoing – with two Focus Group meetings scheduled with key stakeholders in Brussels on Wednesday 7th February to validate the interim findings and collaboratively develop interim recommendations and suggestions for improving EIP Water.
The online stakeholder survey has closed with 195 responses. A big thank you to everyone who took part in the survey. 17 phone interviews with key stakeholders were also undertaken with, for example, Steering Group members, Action Group leaders and the EIP Secretariat. The final results of the evaluation will be presented to the European Commission in early February and shared with EIP Water stakeholders once validated.
