News from the VCGLR

Recent VCGLR EGM licensing decisions:

The Baxter Tavern Hotel Motel: On 29 April 2014, the VCGLR heard an application from Rankindi Pty Ltd to increase the number of EGMs at the Baxter Tavern from 30 to 45. The Mornington Peninsula Shire Council objected to the application and appeared at the hearing. On 20 May 2014, the VCGLR granted the application.

The Old Town ‘N’ Country Tavern: On 23 April 2014, the VCGLR heard an application from Sharay Investments Pty Ltd to increase the number of EGMs at the Old Town ‘N’ Country Tavern from 29 to 35. The Rural City of Wangaratta objected to the application and appeared at the hearing. On 14 May 2014, the VCGLR granted the application.

Greyhounds Entertainment: On 5 May 2014, the VCGLR heard an application from Greyhound Promotions Pty Ltd to increase the number of EGMs at Greyhounds Entertainment in Springvale from 93 to 102. The City of Greater Dandenong did not make a submission regarding the application. On 13 May 2014, the VCGLR refused the application finding there would be a neutral economic impact and a moderate detrimental social impact on the community due to the overwhelming disadvantage in the area. A brief summary of this decision is available on GIRO’s web pages.

Upcoming VCGLR hearing:

On 28 May 2014, the VCGLR will hear an application from Castello Hotel Investments Pty Ltd to increase the number of EGMs at the Victorian Tavern in Gisborne from 42 to 50. The Macedon Ranges Shire Council has objected to the application.
