E News December 2013
Message from the CEO – Geraldine Dean
Christmas is a time to reflect and an opportunity to celebrate the year that has passed. As we bid 2013 farewell, we are looking forward to a fresh new year with more exciting programs, projects and activities. In celebrating our 25 years of service, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our dedicated Board, staff and volunteers, past and present, who have made Youth Solutions the service it has become. We look forward to the next 25 years of working with our incredible community.
To read more about our projects, activities and achievements over the last 12 months, visit www.youthsolutions.com.au to read our latest Annual Report.
I am also thrilled to announce that at the beginning of this month our Youth Advisory Group won the Macarthur Volunteer Award for 'Innovation in Volunteering'. Thank you to the Federal Member for Macarthur, Russell Matheson MP and his team for recognising volunteers in our region and congratulations to all the award recipients and category winners.
Over the festive season the team are continuing to promote 'What's the cost to you?', our safer celebrations campaign in partnership with the Campbelltown Catholic Club. Click here to follow the campaign on Facebook, or visit www.youthsolutions.com.au.
Merry Christmas, and thank you for working with us over the past 25 years. Enjoy the festive season with your family and friends and remember to celebrate safe. See you in 2014.

What's the cost to you? - Safer Celebrations Campaign 2013 - 2014
'What's the cost to you?' was launched last month and has already received great feedback from the community.
The 2013 - 2014 safer summer campaign focuses on the various costs associated with mixing alcohol and unsafe choices, especially during the celebration season.
Throughout December, the Campbelltown Catholic Club will be running a Designated Driver Program, where patrons can register themselves as sober drivers and receive free soft drinks on Friday and Saturday nights.
Click here and 'Like' 'What's the cost to you?' on Facebook for all campaign resources, information on how to celebrate safe and for your chance to win an iPad Air!
This campaign is created in partnership with the Campbelltown Catholic Club and supported by C91.3FM, Campbelltown - Macarthur, Camden - Narellan and Wollondilly Advertisers.

Midnight Basketball
Over the last two months, Youth Solutions ran a series of workshops at Midnight Basketball as part of our Peer Enrichment and Empowerment Project (PEEP).
Our Youth Advisory Group (YAG), with the support of our staff, co-facilitated a workshop one Friday night in November at Minto Indoor Sports Centre. During the Midnight Basketball grand final in December, the young people participated in YAG’s 'Give Us a Hand' campaign by designing hands for the online campaign.
We received positive feedback from the young people who participated in the workshops and enjoyed partnering with Campbelltown City Council and Midnight Basketball Australia, once again, for this great initiative. We look forward to 2014.

App of the month - The Drinking Mirror app
This app was released as part of the 'Drop a glass size' Scottish alcohol campaign. It appears to be aimed especially at women and claims that 'dropping a glass size could help you look fabulous'. It works by the user taking a photo of themselves and choosing how much they drink per week.
