Under the leadership of new Animikiig Program Director Diana Belshaw, Native Earth welcomed a new group of creators to our Animikiig Training Program. The participants, who join us from regions across Ontario, include creators of dance, opera, theatre, and multi-disciplinary works. Thursday April 7 at 10pm Native Earth is grateful to the incredibly talented group of artists who are hosting an evening of entertainment in our honour. Featuring Cheri Maracle, Lisa Nasson, and Ben Passmore, hosts Mimi O'Bonsawin and Ilios Steryannis are set to deliver a night of music and comedy. FREE | Fri April 8 | 6:30pm On Friday, Native Women in the Arts is pleased to be presenting the Elders who form the Strong Earth Alliance, Harry and Juliana Snowboy (James Bay Cree). With a focus on teachings on Puberty Rights and Prophecies, this FREE event is at Centre For Social Innovation - Spadina. The SEA is organization that offers support to the needs of the First Nations communities.

RAPE OF LUCRETIA

Aki Studio Apr 29-May 1 Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia is a dark and tragic story based on the life of a Roman housewife. MYOpera is transplanting the original story to Rome in 1946, as the country prepares for its first election after the terrors of World War II. This sombre story still resonates clearly today in conversations about consent and gendered violence. Tickets $25-$30 on sale now.
