Greetings <<First Name>>,
It’s here. Another new year. As with every new year, people are focusing on new goals, resolutions and ways to grow their business and to enrich their personal and professional development. I started the New Year with being thankful for all the many blessings I received last year: health, family, friends, clients, business partners, and colleagues.
This is a major milestone year for me. I am celebrating my 10th year in business! Yes, 10 years running a successful business. Running a business is hard, satisfying work, but you have to go through the paths of failures and lessons learned while you are on the road to success.
I’ve learned so much along the way and want to share the top 10 lessons I learned with you. I believe that what I’ve learned can help you, too, grow and prosper! I will be sharing these lessons with you during each newsletter. So, let’s get started with Lesson #1 - Belief and Passion.
In the beginning.....

Getting started wasn’t a piece of cake. As many of you know, I thought I would be a corporate employee all my life. I expected to reach the top in the service of Big Pharma, or banking, or consumer retail. But instead, in May of, 2003, I was released from corporate America and every May, I celebrate this blessed release. And as I began to search for a new job, I realized that what I really wanted was to be in control of my own destiny. With the leadership, management, learning and development skills I had gained from 20+ years of working in the corporate world, BWM Consulting, Inc. was created in 2003. I took a big risk in deciding to start my own business. My husband kept saying, "are you sure, are you ready, how can you, how can we, what about, what if," and on and on and on. Looking back 10 years later I can answer those questions with a show of success.
Lesson 1: Believe in Yourself and Maintain Your Passion For What You Are Doing.

There were many times over the years when I wondered if I was doing the right thing. It is so hard sometimes to wear all the hats and do it alone. Then the sun would come up again and again, and I reminded myself that I love what I do. I love being rewarded for my own creativity and having the independence to chart my own course. I realized that the only one who can truly put a damper on your passion is yourself. You have to keep the fire lit. Maintaining your drive by having a strong motivation and remembering why you went into business in the first place will help you to survive. In the next issue, the lesson I will share is to “know your business and what you want from it".

I would like to take this time to give a heartfelt thank you to all of my clients for their business over the years. Without you, I would not have reached this milestone; to my board of directors, for their guidance and direction; my business partners and colleagues for their support; and my family and friends for their continuous encouragement.
