Dear Constituent,

Good afternoon! After highlighting the Senior CharlieCard Day in the "Upcoming Events" section of our previous email, I'm happy to report today that the Senior CharlieCard Day was a tremendous success.

This email update also includes information on business walks through Danvers and Topsfield, interviews with local television stations, and a meeting with the Deputy Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. Thanks for reading!

Senior CharlieCard Day
On September 16th, my office hosted a Senior CharlieCard workshop at the Peabody Council on Aging. Over 500 seniors attended and applied for reduced-rate CharlieCards, saving themselves a trip to the CharlieCard Store in Boston. For more information about this workshop, please feel free to contact my office at (617) 722-1410.

I would like to extend a special 'thank you' to the Peabody Council on Aging for partnering with my staff to help make this event so successful!
Danvers & Topsfield Business Walks

Last month I spent two afternoons speaking with small business owners and employees in downtown Danvers and Topsfield. These one-on-one conversations gave me an opportunity to learn more about the challenges and needs of our local small business owners.

For information about current state resources for small businesses, visit the Mass.gov webpage. If you're interested in pending legislation regarding small business matters, please visit the Committee on Community Development & Small Business legislative webpage
Peabody Access Television & "The Mass Factor"

On September 12th, I welcomed Peabody Access Television to the State House and spoke about my first several months in office and my day-to-day responsibilities as a state Senator.

I also recently sat down with Todd Feinburg, host of "The Mass Factor", to discuss the latest developments on Beacon Hill and the North Shore. To watch the entire interview, visit the Danvers Community Access Television website.
Peabody International Festival

I was honored to speak at this year's Peabody International Festival, where thousands of residents celebrated their diversity through the arts, live entertainment, and delicious food.
ONDCP & National Substance Abuse Prevention Month

As Senate chair of the Committee on Mental Health & Substance Abuse, I recently co-hosted a meeting at the State House with Deputy Director Benjamin B. Tucker of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and my colleagues. Deputy Director Tucker discussed the national effort to improve access to treatment in the criminal justice system and also promoted October as National Substance Absue Prevention Month.
Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery

I was happy to speak at the 23rd Annual Recovery Month Celebration Day at the State House, hosted by the Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery (MOAR).
