Hundreds of composers vied to win Arizona Pro Arte's "Call for Scores" competition, flooding the group with new compositions from around the globe. Now, in Apotheosis of the Dance, the forward-thinking Arizona Pro Arte Ensemble will play Beethoven and two revolutionary pieces by this year's contest winners, Aharon Harlap and Michael-Thomas Foumai. In addition to conducting Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 (called the "apotheosis of the dance" by none other than Richard Wagner), maestro Timothy Verville will lead the APA through Harlap's Sinfonia Breve with live dance accompaniment from the AZ Pro Arte Dance Ensemble. The dancers will also accompany the performance of The Divine Comedy, Foumai's winning composition.
