Harvest Season Opportunities

Interested in helping with our 2017 Harvest? Say yes. It’s the only way to earn the coveted Stonewall Creek Vineyards logo hat! Current plan is to begin with Malbec on second weekend in September and continue following weekends. Pickers arrive between 8 to 8:30AM, receive instructions from Carl and start harvesting. Around 12:30PM, we’ll host a large farm lunch along with wine (usually the same as grapes harvested that day). If interested, email info@stonewallcreek.com with “Harvest Help” in subject line and indicate weekends in September and October that you’re available.

We’ve Got Wine . . .in Atlanta
Before our life at the vineyards, we lived in the Atlanta neighborhood of Brookwood Hills for 30 years. Our local wine shop was just up the street – Peachtree Road Liquor Store. Don’t let the name throw you, the shop is known for a big selection of imported and domestic wine. We’ve increased their selection, as the folks at Peachtree Road now have a case of our dry 2016 Yukari rosé. (Don’t tell anyone, but they also have a few bottles of our 2014 Cabernet Franc, named Best Red Vinifera, 100% Georgia Grown, in last fall’s statewide Georgia Trustees Wine Challenge.) Next delivery will be our 2015 Malbec.

Just up Peachtree, our 2016 Yukari rosé is on the wine list at Restaurant Eugene. Founded by Chef Linton Hopkins and his wife, Gina, the restaurant garnered a James Beard designation for Chef Linton for its new Southern cuisine. The Hopkins went on to establish other local restaurants along with the Peachtree Road Farmers Market.

Harvest Stomp! 1-5, Saturday, October 7

Recreate the famous “I Love Lucy” grape stomping episode at our annual Harvest Stomp! Compete for Best Stomping Technique and Best Costume awards. Did you know that the stomping scene was filmed before a live studio audience in one take? Lucille Ball later said that her first steps felt like stomping on eyeballs!

Our special twist: Step out of the stomping barrel and onto the back of your souvenir T-shirt. We’ll stuff the barrel with Norton grapes, which are known for their deep color. Yes, there will be a cleanup station. No, we do not bottle the juice from the stomped grapes.

Tickets: $30 (adults). Included are souvenir T-shirt, logo wine goblet, 4-flight wine tasting, signature wine cocktail and the music of well-known Athens surf band, The Flamethrowers. Bring a picnic or purchase BBQ & fixins’ onsite (from the Bridge Creek Market).

Reservations required: We are limiting the event to 200 participants. To pre-purchase tickets and order T-shirts (XS-XXL), email gail@stonewallcreek.com and she will confirm with you. Show your ID at the check-in table to claim your reservation.

Once again, we’re supporting Rabun County PAWS 4 Life, local no-kill animal shelter.

Full House for Total Eclipse
We’ve had a huge response to our Total Eclipse Viewing on August 21. Sorry, reservations are now closed!

No reservations are required for our Total Eclipse Pre-Parties on Saturday, August 19, and Sunday, August 20, 1-5, with Dr. Paul Wysock on the accordion and featuring wines grown in the path of the Total Eclipse. Gail will also have her famous wine brownies and wine jellies for sale. She’s working on an Eclipse Wine Cocktail. Stop by if you’re in our neighborhood.
September 2nd Wine Dinner Sold Out
Beechwood Inn’s annual Labor Day Saturday Dinner featuring Stonewall Creek Vineyards wines is sold out. For other farm-to-table wine dinners at the inn, see https://www.beechwoodinn.ws/category/dining/

On an August day five years ago, we opened for tastings in our winery with just two wines, Yukari (then a Cabernet Franc ros
é) and Boriana (Petit Manseng), while our reds aged in oak barrels awaiting a 2013 release. Then, as now, our focus was on growing good grapes and crafting fine Georgia wine. Our son Nate has been working with us making and bottling wine, and this summer, our grandson joined us before starting college.

Thank you all for your support. We look forward to seeing each of you soon!
