It’s been a while, so I got some really good stuff for you ;-)

Here’s a brief idea from me, and a few content recommendations that have the potential to shift your thinking in a significant way.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed, moody, frustrated, anxious, indecisive, [insert something similar here]?

It sounds simple, but what I’ve found helps the most is – go and get out of breath.

Push yourself hard and steady for 10 minutes. I'm not talking about a fast walk. It’s gotta feel hard and uncomfortable. Get your heart rate right up. If you're not digging deep to finish it, you’re not going hard enough.

When you’re in it, you’ll forget about the other feelings. It’ll take all of your focus to just deal with the discomfort. Afterwards, once things have calmed down, you should notice you have a new perspective. Your problems won’t vanish, but you’ll have a different mindset for how to think about them.

Try it. It works almost every time.

Stuck for what to do? Here's a simple workout (no equipment) to try:

10 mins – as many reps as possible.
  • 5 air squats
  • 5 push ups
  • 5 burpees

21 Experts on the Future of Expertise by 21 Experts (article)

I really liked this one. Lots of great advice for how to become an expert and knowledgeable about things.

The big thing that jumped out for me is to vary your sources and make sure they conflict with each other at least some of the time. I’ve done that recently for a few things and it’s causing me to seriously rethink a few things.

Sauna use as a lifestyle practice to extend healthspan by Rhonda Patrick and Teresa Johnson (study)

I’ve only read the highlights at the top and the conclusion at the bottom so far. The full study is sat on my kindle for when I have a spare half hour. Dr. Rhonda Patrick is great and this looks like an insanely deep dive on the benefits of sauna use. It’s just another data point encouraging me to see how I can incorporate regular sauna sessions into my life.

The food pyramid has been upside down for thirty years by Naval (tweet)

If you don’t know this by now, you should. It might be the biggest deception ever. If you want to know for yourself, see what giving up or limiting cereals, rice, pasta and bread does for you. See what eating more healthy fats, oils and meat does for you. Fuck it, I’ll ruin the surprise – you’ll significantly improve your metabolic health and feel ten times better.

To Do list for an Unusually Sunny Day by Alastair Humphreys

A nice reminder that we tend to over-complicate things.

Have a GREAT weekend!
