Heartbeat, New TV Show Debuts This Spring

You guessed it. This new show is adapted from a book written by a real-life heart transplant surgeon, Dr. Kathy Magliato. Scheduled to run at at 8 PM EST on Wednesday evenings, the medical drama will show the personal and professional side of what it’s like to be a highly skilled woman working in a male-dominated field. The show features Melissa George in the starring role. Others in the cast are Don Harry, Dave Annabelle and Dr. Hughley.

We expect there will be lots of tweets each week from the donation community and from the stars alike. Don’t forget it’s fiction!

Minorities need transplants, but they donate too. Maribel has two family members that became organ donors.

Donation Rates Up!

2015 was one for the record books. For the first time, more than 30,000 organ transplants were performed in the United States as the result of 15,000 donations. With your support, LifeShare was able to contribute to this achievement.

The actual statistics for North Carolina are in the spring edition of our newsletter. Our hard work in encouraging the public to register as donors is working. We thank you for your support.  We couldn’t do it alone.
