ANNUAL GATHERING:
WORKING ON THE EDGE OF SUPERVISION

In this newsletter we want to invite you all to attend our Annual Gathering which will be held online on December 8th.  At Relational Change we place particular importance on this day as a chance to relate, meet old friends and make new ones; indeed some of the peer support groups that have started at these days are still meeting many years later.

We want to emphasise that everyone is very welcome, whether you are new to the work of Relational Change or whether you have been a member of the community for many years. We want to meet with you, hear your voice and get your input to the topic. The day will be structured so that all participants have opportunities to contribute and be heard.

The theme of the day is “working at the edge” and we will focus on the supervisory situation. What does it mean to you to be at your “edge” relationally in this situation?

For many of us it can mean the risk of exposing our vulnerability and uncertainty in situations where we might be viewed as “experts”, (if we are supervisors), or “learners”, (if we are supervisees). In our experience, relationally, the roles of Supervisor or Supervisee make very little difference to the range of feelings, fragilities and frailties that we might undergo during a “supervision” session. We find this to be true for Coaches, Consultants, Clinicians, Leaders and Managers: the field is laden with expectations and longings that take us to our edge.

The day is aimed for everyone who has had some experience of being “supervised”, (clinically or managerially), and/or is a supervisor themselves. We will aim to create a supportive and yet stretching day where we all hope to create a safe space for personal inquiry into the themes that we will raise.

The day will be led by our supervision skills program lead, Dr Lynda Osborne and other supervision team members. CPD certificates will be available.

For details, including booking, please visit our website. We look forward to meeting you there.

We are also taking this opportunity to mention some of our other workshops and programs that are available to book now.

 SUPERVISION: A RELATIONAL CHANGE PROCESS

Starting 26 January 2023 | Online & Kingston-Upon-Thames

POST-GRADUATE CERTIFICATE / DIPLOMA
Whether working clinically or in a coaching setting with clients, it is not unusual for practitioners to experience relational and practice difficulties. This translates into the need for a supervisor who can offer new models and a fresh perspective as well as supporting competent practice. On this course, we will consider the relationships between the self of the client, the therapist/coach and the supervisor, their specific contexts, and the wider field, based upon our new matrix model of a relational approach to supervision and supervisory practice.
