US Battery Sponsors The 17th Annual Dorado Fishing Tournament

Corona, CA - U.S. Battery is sponsoring the Bulls Only Dorado Fishing Tournament, held in Punta Chivato, Baja California Sur, Mexico, June 21st through June 23rd. Now in its 17th year, thee tournament has become extremely popular and brings in contestants from around the world to fish for the biggest Dorado (aka Mahi-Mahi) that is found in the ocean near this scenic town. “One of the reasons we enjoy sponsoring this event, is because most of the residents of Punta Chivato run on solar power and use U.S. Battery products,” says Don Wallace, CMO/ Executive VP, Sales and Marketing.

Aside from being one of the most popular areas for Dorado fishing, and host of this popular tournament, Punta Chivato is a small community off the Sea of Cortez that has approximately 125 homes that are all on solar power. “Most all of the homes in this town use U.S. Battery deep-cycle batteries,” says Pamela Oxley, representative for the Bulls Only Dorado Fishing Tournament. “Many of us have been customers of U.S. Battery for more than 20-years, and the company has also been one of our tournament’s most valued sponsors.”

Communities like Punta Chivato utilize U.S. Battery RE Series deep-cycle batteries, because they are designed to take the abuse of grueling deep discharge-recharge cycles every day for long periods of time. U.S. Battery RE-Series batteries feature the company’s exclusive Diamond Plate technology that allows the use of highly efficient, synthetic tetrabasic lead sulfate (TTBLS), crystal structures. U.S. Battery’s improvement in plate structure with synthetic TTBLS results in enhanced performance, charging, and life of the battery over any other on the market. “Our Diamond Plate Xtreme Capacity technology provides higher peak capacity, improved watt-hours per liter and watt-hours per kilogram,” says Wallace. “The features we put into our RE series batteries enhance recharge-ability with improved cycle life that solar powered homes like those in Punta Chivato depend on every day.”

These shields effectively prevent the formation of “mossing shorts” caused when positive active material particles dislodge from the plates, collect at the top of the cell elements, and cause a short circuit. U.S. Battery RE-Series products also utilize an Outside Positive (OSP™) battery design, which mitigates the effects of positive plate deterioration and further increases battery life, capacity and stable performance over the life of the battery.

With reliable, long-lasting power from U.S. Battery, the town of Punta Chivato is looking forward to another successful fishing tournament. According to Oxley, the tournament raises money to support many charities. Some of these include local boarding schools, a veterinary clinic, a home for the elderly, and a scholarship program for local students.  For more information on the tournament, visit www.bullsonlytournament.com.
