W.TEC's Inagural Girls Technology Camp Alumnae Reunion 
The Women's Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC ) held its inagural  Girls Technology Camp Alumnae Reunion. The event was organized to bring together all its past camp participants from 2008 till date to foster a bonding of all  past camp participants. The W.TEC

W.TEC's  ED Honoured By LaRoche Leadership Foundation

On September 11 2014, our Executive Director, Mrs Oreoluwa Lesi, was honoured by the LaRoche Leadership Foundation as an Inspiring Youth Leader alongside Jude Abaga (M.I), Tolu Ogunlesi, the Okunoren Twin, Tosin Taiwo, Adekunbi Adeoye and others. Read more.

UPCOMING EVENT: W.TEC Organizes 'International Day of The Girl Child' Celebration
W.TEC, in conjuction with Intel,
 Oracle and IdeaHub, is organizing an epic 2014 International Day of the Girl Child  event. This year's event, which celebrates the achievements of women in the ICT World, will feature Live Tech Demos, Fun Animation Tutorials and a Hackathon. To participate, register online.  Read more!
W.TEC Academy 
The W.TEC Academy is an after school Initiative of W.TEC where girls in select schools in Lagos will be taught new ICT skills to boost their confidence and opportunities in an increasingly technology-driven world. We will be setting-up computer clubs in schools and implementing an exciting curriculum. Read more

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is Here Again! 

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is right around the corner (November 25 - December 10 2014). W.TEC supports this movement  by organizing workshops and online activities towards making the Internet world a safer place for our girls. This year we have a lot more activities for the girls.  See photos of the 2013 and 2012 editions.


Out & About With W.TEC

W.TEC's Executive Director Mrs Oreoluwa Lesi and her team have been very busy speaking, partnering, supporting and exhibiting at social change programmes throughout the year. It is our pleasure, to share with you some of our most recent engagements:

On April 14, Modupe Darabidan spoke at the Lagos NASA Space App Challenge held at iDEA Hub - Yaba, Lagos, speaking about projects created by the youth participants. 

On June 16, Oreoluwa Lesi moderated at BE Africa's Seminar on "Basic Education for All: Focus on Girl-child Education" at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Lagos.

On July 9, Oreoluwa Lesi was a panelist on the "Technology and Women" panel at the Enterprise Development Center's Women in Africa Conference at the Four Points Hotel, Lagos.

On July 28, Oreoluwa Lesi spoke on Careers in Technology at the WAAW STEM Camp in Lekki, Lagos.

On August 28, Oreoluwa Lesi was a guest on the Impact Africa Radio Show and spoke about "Where are the Africans (and Women) in Tech?". Listen to the interview online (from the 4:19 mark).

On September 15, Oreoluwa Lesi spoke at the graduating class of the department of Computer Science at the University of Lagos on "Being a Successful Woman in ICT."
