Be a Leaders in Training supporter & donate during our first online campaign. The following holiday rally fundraising video was created by 9th grade leader Linda Ly:
Nevada remains the state with the highest high school dropout rate in the nation according to the Department of Education report released in November. State odds predict only 12 of the current Leaders in Training will earn a high school diploma. We simply stand up and say no. Students work from 7:00am to 6:00pm at school and in our program to ensure they are the architects of their own lives. We thank you for your continued support.

November 2012 highlights
  • College Access activities: Nevada State College visit
  • Community Service: Goldfarb ES internship-- over 600 hours collectively volunteered
  • Fundraising: $600 earned from 2 contributors
Leaders practice being college students at Nevada State College.
After students' first quarter grades, November's focus was intervention, remediation, and obsession with raising grades. All students who earned lower than a B were assigned a 1-on-1 tutor and continue to work additional days to receive help. Unlike other college access programs, we have no GPA requirement for students to join. Instead, we believe every student can earn As and Bs with individualized attention and the right supports.

Our current Grade Challenge is a 67% reduction in the cohort's collective amount of Cs, Ds, and Fs with a group dinner of wherever they choose as the reward. We are instilling accountability, responsibility, and helping create a supportive peer group for students to overcome the number one barrier keeping underrepresented students from college: academic attainment.

So this month we thank our amazing tutors: Cheryl Robison, Clair Thomas, Nathan Warner, Ricky LaFosse, Naima Blakes, Romina Juarez, Yousuf Marvi, Angela Perlick, Desiree Taylor, Jessica Castillo, Courtney Friedman & Alyse Sobosan. November also brought new guest speakers/in-program tutors: Becky Kaatz, Tam & Max Larnerd, Saswato Roy, Kevin Kloeker, Zach Rose-Heim & Dom Remy-- thank you for your time. Lastly, Leaders in Training was amazingly featured in "CCSD Newsmakers" sent to every District employee: thank you Amanda Fulkerson for your commitment to our leaders.

Thank you for your continued belief in me and our program: it means more than you know that we will support our students together. Our goal is to raise $11,000 to match my personal giving by the new year. Thank you for your support in our first official ask.
