On November 20, I did a Visiting Artist Demonstration at Opus in Kelowna. It was so successful that I am now booked to do demos at the Opus stores in Victoria, North Vancouver and Langely!
Encouraged by the number of people who asked if I taught art classes, I have booked the Pleasant Pear studio for Tuesday afternoons in February and the first half of March.
Developing Artistic Momentum
A six-week course of art classes
This series of art classes is designed to help you develop momentum in your painting. It will be of specific benefit to those artists who would like to paint more and need a gentle push to make that happen.
Classes will combine theory with practical matters. Topics will include: design and composition; manipulation of colour; use of layers in developing a painting; use of different painting tools; and adding finishing touches.
Course Schedule
There will be six sessions of three hours each for a total of 18 hours of instruction. Sessions will be held weekly on Tuesday afternoons from February 7th to March 14th at the Pleasant Pear Orchard Studio between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Maximum number of participants is 8.
Participation is $240 per person. A supply list will be provided.
This course will be taught in a workshop format. Each session will include:
- Instruction of theory
- Demonstrations
- Lots of time for participant painting with individual assistance and feedback from Kit
Painting will be done in acrylic, however, the lessons learned are applicable to other media. These classes are suitable for advanced beginner and intermediate artists.

After painting in acrylic for months, I took a break and did some Ink Resist paintings.
Since the Mountain Ash tree outside my studio window has been full of birds this winter, I took that as my inspiration!
