Duke Energy Named One Of The 20 Most Innovative Companies

Duke_EnergyDuke Energy has been named to Greentech Media’s Grid Edge 20 – recognizing the company as one of the most innovative firms working to architect the electric power industry’s future.Companies were selected based on their contribution to grid edge technology transformation – increasingly critical in today’s changing utility industry. Energy stakeholders and other thought leaders in the industry helped select the Grid Edge 20.

In Florida, Duke Energy is using a number of new grid technologies that have improved reliability and spared our customers from experiencing nearly 6 million outage minutes since 2014. An automated restoration project, starting in the company’s Pinellas County territory, is isolating faults and restoring a majority of customers in less than a minute.

“At Duke Energy, we continue to promote innovation as a way to make our operations more efficient — and our customers more satisfied. We are honored with this recognition,” said Caren Anders, vice president, Emerging Technology and Transmission Affairs.

Doing Business with Panama Lunch, Friday May 8th

It has been an exciting year since the Tampa Bay Export Alliance was announced at the 2014 International Town Hall. Leaders in both Pinellas and Hillsborough counties have been working together on international initiatives and achieving amazing results. We’ve travelled together to Chile and Panama and coordinated joint educational sessions to teach our businesses how to export products. Tampa International Airport has announced increased frequency of flights to Zurich, Switzerland (Edelweiss) and Panama City, Panama (Copa Airlines) and will inaugurate non-stop flights to Frankfurt, Germany (Lufthansa) on September 25th. At Port Tampa Bay, they are purchasing new gantry cranes to handle increased container traffic and working to recruit new shipping lines and manufacturers to the largest port in Florida. In short, our international efforts are taking hold and producing results. In this panel we’ll discuss our outstanding 2014. More importantly, we’ll look forward to 2015 and beyond — and give attendees a preview of exciting developments on the international horizon for Tampa Bay!

Join us for the Doing Business with Panama Luncheon immediately following the International Town Hall. This luncheon is being hosting by the American Chamber of Commerce of Panama in partnership with Tampa Bay area organizations and is complimentary to all Town Hall attendees.  Hear from top trade, investment and tourism officials and get an overview of specific business opportunities between Tampa Bay and Panama.
