We are excited to announce Kate McEnroe as a keynote speaker on October 14. Kate will cover how Florida communities can increase competitiveness through Talent Development initiatives:
  • Local programs that fully engage population in the workforce
  • The most effective ways to retain that workforce locally
  • Recruitment of new residents and workers from outside the local area
  • Researching the reality of the local workforce
  • Promoting and connecting the workforce to existing companies and potential new investors
Additionally, Kate will share best practices of effective programs from across the country. Along with the focus on what local and regional organizations can do to impact their competitiveness, Kate will address how states are allocating their resources to provide direct support and amplify the efforts of their county and municipal partners.

35 Mules opens applications


35 Mules is an innovation hub powered by Florida Power & Light Company (FPL). In 2020, 35 Mules opened its doors to help entrepreneurs bring their game-changing ideas to life faster, smarter, and at scale. The program welcomed six great startups into the program and help them take their business ventures to the next level. These startups are in the energy, water, and energy-adjacent industries.

The 35 Mules program provides startups with access to subject-matter experts, leadership coaching from FPL and NextEra Energy Fortune 200 executive, a non-dilutive cash grant of $100,000, and a dedicated, rent-free workspace with access for 12 to 18 months. Applications for the program’s second cohort opened July 12 and will close August 23, 2021.
