Preparing Florida’s Product: Sites with Infrastructure, Places for People, and a Strong Talent Pipeline

Last week concluded Week 3 of six scheduled committee weeks before the legislature enters session on March 7. This week legislators are back in their districts, many holding delegation meetings for local constituencies.

On January 24-25, FEDC sponsored the 2023 Florida Manufacturing Days hosted by the Florida Manufacturing and Supply Chain Advocacy Council co-chaired by John Krug, CEcD, Niagra Bottling and Joe Mayer, Aerospace Retired. Over the two days, we engaged in meetings with the 13 members of the legislature who make up the Manufacturing Caucus and welcomed a new partnership between FloridaMakes and Florida First Capital Finance Corporation to increase awareness of capital access
options for Florida’s manufacturers.

Leading up to advocacy season, FEDC has been promoting the importance of Preparing Florida’s Product to include Sites with Infrastructure, Places for People, and a Strong Talent Pipeline for Florida business and industry with an emphasis on Manufacturing, Trade, and Logistics. This month our message is being shared broadly through Expansion Solutions magazine.

As the weeks progress, there is a robust set of events in Tallahassee for FEDC members to promote the Advocacy Agenda as recommended through the Advocacy Committee and approved by the FEDC Board of Directors on January 25. We appreciate your hard work and contributions to these five areas of emphasis:
  1. Globally Recognized Florida Business Brand
  2. Affordable Housing
  3. Site Development
  4. Workforce Training
  5. GDP Growth in Rural Florida
